Chris Fox has emailed us direct from the fabulous roof of our RDC-1 RPDX 6133 with the latest news on the leak mentioned in the last update.

The leak has been traced to a repair job from the previous removal and replacement of the air conditioning condenser. Ice damage has caused the steel screws to pop their heads (Chris wishes they had of used stainless steel screws). The repair appears to date from quite some time ago. VIA maintenance staff clearly noticed it because it had been roughly patched with roofing tar. All we can say is UGH!

To fix it all up we first need to remove all the tar, which will be replaced with proper industrial grade sealant for steel roofing (we’ll find out from VIA what they recommend for official repairs). The screws will be replaced with stainless steel examples.

Now we can get back to the inside.

And huge gaps between roof panels!
