Rapido Timetable No. 3

Rapido Timetable #3 / September 8, 2009
Rapido Timetable

Dear Rapido Customer,

Its hard to believe that summer is almost over. I’m not sure about you, but I didn’t get nearly enough modeling done! Still, there are plenty of projects on my “To-Do” list, and many more on ours here at Rapido.

Before we go any further though, in the interest of Truth in Advertising I do just want to take a moment to clarify an error that appears in Jason’s Telegraph and in our next magazine ads.

In announcing the next run of HO scale “Oh, So Steamy!” Steam Generator Cars, Jason makes the statement that the upcoming NYO&W scheme is being produced “for the three guys who model it, one of whom works for Rapido.” This simply isn’t true. There are 23 of us. So, I just want to apologize on Rapido’s behalf to Al, Bill (the other one), Bob K., Bob M., Bruce, Charlie, Don, Doug, Gary, Joe, John C., John S., Les, Lynn, Mal, Mark, Mike, Peter, Robert, Rich, Ron, and Walt.

Now that he is clear on this, Jason tells me that if all of these guys buy both NYO&W Steam Gennies he won’t give me such a hard time about my modeling choices. Come on guys, help me out here….

New Product Deliveries

New Steam Generators

Our new Steam Generator Car arrivals

The next group of HO scale “Oh, So Steamy!” Steam Generators has arrived in our warehouse and will be shipped out this week. These include CN (1954 Scheme), New York Central, and VIA Rail Canada.

N scale passenger trucks

Also just arrived are our N Scale Panorama Line passenger car trucks. These include the 41-BNO-11 4-wheel, outside-swinghanger truck (perhaps the most common outside-swinghanger truck), and the 41-N-11 inside swinghanger truck (probably the most common inside-swinghanger truck). Talk about mass appeal!

Coming Next

Even more Steam Gennies are on the way, due in at the end of the month. These include Amtrak Phase 1, Chesapeake & Ohio, Great Northern, Missouri Pacific, Northern Pacific,Pennsylvania and Union Pacific.

Easy Peasy Lighting

N Scale “Easy-Peasy” Passenger Car Lighting

Along with these, we’ll be receiving our N scale “Easy-Peasy” Passenger Car Lighting (which Jason told me were arriving last week. Thanks, Jason!) and our next group of N scale Panorama Line passenger cars – the New York Central Lightweight Coaches and Duplex Sleepers.

Project Updates

CP Caboose

Nice Caboose!

HO Scale Wide Vision Caboose

Our factory has started production on the first of the Wide Vision Cabooses. The first group will be here around the beginning of November and will include CSX, Santa Fe, Toronto Hamilton & Buffalo and Undecorated

These will be followed a couple of weeks later by Cotton Belt, Great Northern, Algoma Central,Chessie and Northern Pacific. The Canadian Pacific “vans” will arrive shortly after that. All of the schemes should be here in time for the Christmas rush. We’re actually on schedule with these! Wow. Note that the exact order of paint scheme delivery may change due to circumstances beyond our control.

Please bear in mind that the order desk is closed for these cabooses, and we are already sold out of most of the numbers. That means if you have not reserved yours yet you may have to shop around. Either Jason or I will include photos of painted production samples in future newsletters as we get them. We’ve been showing the undecorated sample until now because it is much easier to quickly paint up a pre-production passenger car sample than it is to paint up a pre-production caboose.

Well, that’s it for now. Now that the factory is cranking along you can expect even more delivery news next issue.

Take care,

Bill
